Maynard James Keenan isn't someone you should try and fuck with. The Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer frontman has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for years, and he recently hit a major milestone in the martial art by receiving his brown belt.

For those who aren't aware of the sport's rankings, the brown belt is the penultimate level before the coveted black belt distinction, and it typically takes at least five years of intense training to achieve. In an Instagram post shared by a Hawaiian Jiu Jitsu trainer named Chief Limao, Keenan is seen striking a ferocious pose with his newly-bestowed brown belt around his waist. The caption of the post is, "True warrior there," so clearly Keenan has fully earned his new distinguished ranking. Congratulations to Keenan, and look the fuck out to anyone else who encounters him in the wild.

A few years ago, Revolver published a four-part documentary series about Keenan called "The Art of Work," and episode four focused on his interest in combat sports — featuring footage of him demonstrating Jiu Jitsu moves at the martial arts academy he co-founded in Arizona.
