Ghost are inviting fans to fully immerse themselves in the fabled 1969 era of the modern-day occult-rock heroes. For one night only, on Wednesday February 1st, Ghost will be hosting a pop-up event at Hollywood's esteemed Whisky A Go-Go venue titled "Metal Myths Presents: Ghost - Reverence & Resurrection."
As the story goes, back in the summer of '69, an up-and-coming band called Ghost, fronted by Papa Nihil, played its first date at The Whiskey A Go-Go on Hollywood's Sunset Strip. The show was to celebrate Ghost's first release on Galaxy Recordings, Seven Inches of Satanic Panic, a double-A-side 7-inch single featuring "Kiss the Go-Goat" and, of course, "Mary on a Cross." This original Ghost lineup eventually disbanded, and the single, its original tapes and the band's only promo and live performance of "Kiss the Go-Goat" ever filmed, were lost — that is until 2019, when the songs and the Super 8 footage were discovered and resurrected.
This Wednesday night's activities will center around showcasing relics from Ghost's short-lived but highly influential 1969 incarnation, including the original costumes and ghoul masks that Ghost wore during their iconic Whisky A Go-Go gig back on September 13th, 1969. There'll also be uncovered magazine clippings of Ghost from period of time, and various other Ghost-related ephemera will be displayed for the first — and quite possibly only — time, according to a video teaser.
