A heavy-music weekend presented by the makers of Coachella
Maiden Dickinson Metallica Hetfield Ozzy split 1600x900

It's real. It's happening. PowerTrip, a metal version of the Coachella music festival, is going down in California later this year, and several of the biggest names in heavy music are filling out its star-studded lineup. MetallicaOzzy OsbourneAC/DCGuns N' Roses, TOOL and Iron Maiden will headline the three-day event, which will take place the weekend of October 6th-8th in Indio, California — the same location as the annual pop, rap and indie music retreat, Coachella.

Several of the headliners began teasing the brand new festival earlier this week, and today (March 30th) PowerTrip — yes, spelled just like the underground thrash lords, but without a space in between the two words — have revealed the initial lineup and launched a process where fans can register for tickets, which go on sale April 6th at 1 p.m. EST. Get more info here.

Between the headlining acts alone, this is already shaping up to be one of the most monumental metal fests in recent U.S. history, especially with the Great Ozz scheduled to perform. This will mark the Prince of Darkness's first full concert performance since 2018, and the first since he announced his retirement from touring earlier this year and canceled all upcoming live shows to focus on his health recovery. Doubly remarkable is that will also be AC/DC's first show in a long seven (!) years, given their last performance went down in Philadelphia all the way back in September of 2016.

We can only assume that the rest of the lineup will be similarly badass, so stay tuned for the full reveal. For now, gaze upon the flier of headliners below and start booking your hotels in the Indio region.
