Nearly two years ago in 2019, Killswitch Engage announced their plans to tour North America with August Burns Red and Light the Torch, the band fronted by ex-Killswitch singer Howard Jones. The trek was derailed multiple times by the pandemic, but now it's finally set to go down in early 2022.
Today (November 9th), the metalcore titans announced that the massive run will begin in Pittsburgh on January 28th and travel throughout the entire country — as well as a few dates up in Canada — before looping back to the East Coast and finishing up in Philadelphia on March 12th.
Killswitch will finally have the opportunity to play a U.S. headliner in support of their 2019 album, Atonement, while August Burns Red will be spotlighting material from their 2020 LP, Guardians. However, the tour is particularly notable for uniting Killswitch in their current form — with original singer Jesse Leach on the mic — and the band fronted by his one-time replacement, Jones' Light the Torch, who dropped a new album back in the spring.
"We are excited to bring out Light the Torch, first of all, because they are a killer band," Leach said in a press statement following the tour's initial announcement in 2019. "Obviously, having Howard out with us allows us to make this a tour to remember. I've always respected Howard as a singer, but in recent years, he's become a friend. So it means more to me now than it would have in the past. We are happy to see him back up on the good foot and singing his heart out again in top form."
