Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, More to Play Virtual Ozzfest 2022

Music festival will be held in Decentraland virtual world
Motorhead Ozzy Split live

This year's Ozzfest features a lot of firsts. It's the first time Ozzy Osbourne's festival will be held since 2018, the first time it'll ever take place virtually, and the first time a dead man will perform as one of the co-headlining acts.

After announcing last month that the once-annual event will be returning at the Metaverse Music Festival in the Decentraland virtual world from November 10th-13th, the lineup has now been formally revealed, and it's a pretty shocking bill.

In addition to a headlining set by Ozzy himself (who hasn't played a full, real-life show since 2018), Ozzfest 2022 also features sets by Megadeth, Motörhead, Black Label Society, Skid Row, and Britof.

Yes, you read that right. Motörhead, the legendary punk-metal band who've been defunct since frontman Lemmy Kilmister died back in 2015, will be making some sort of appearance at this virtual affair.

So far, there aren't very many details about what the fest will actually look like, but going by footage of last year's Metaverse Music Festival, which featured EDM stars like Deadmau5 and 3LAU, all of the bands will probably be playing in avatar form, so it'll look a lot more like a video game than a livestream of a real-life performance.

It's also worth noting that Ozzfest 2022 will only be a portion of this year's Metaverse Music Festival, which will altogether feature more than 100 artists performing throughout the vast, virtual world, including  rapper Soulja Boy and DJ Eddy-Temple Morris.

The event will be free for all to attend, with "no VR, ticket or headset required," according to a post on Ozzy's Instagram. See the official flier below.
