Say it is so! Back in December, Weezer revealed they were planning "some kind of epic tour" to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their classic 1994 debut, Blue Album, this year. They've now officially announced "Voyage to the Blue Planet," and it does indeed sound pretty epic.
Rivers Cuomo and Co. be playing arenas with support from two other classic Nineties-era (and beyond) bands, the Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. They're promising to play Blue Album in full, plus "other fan favorites, rarities and more."
The tour begins on September 4th in St. Paul and wraps on October 11th in Los Angeles, with tickets going on sale to the general public on Friday, March 15th at 10 a.m. local time, and pre-sales launching Wednesday. All dates are listed below.
Ahead of the tour, and Weezer's U.K. dates with The Smashing Pumpkins, they'll also play an intimate L.A. club show at Lodge Room on March 15th with Keanu Reeves' band Dogstar. They'll play The Blue Album in full "alongside some very special guests," and the show celebrates the anniversary of their very first live date at Raji's in March of 1992, where they opened for Dogstar.
