Formed earlier this year, North Carolina's Child of the Jackyl features Alesana's Dennis Lee and Bloodjinn's Kyle Odell, plus Justin Reich and Scott Shelton, both of Vanisher.  "Child of the Jackyl has been a brainchild of mine for quite a few years now," Lee says. "It started when I was in a rut, trying to find new music to listen to. A majority of the new metal bands I dug up were either breakdown-drenched dribble or lyrically devoid of any message save infantile misogyny. I knew that if I was patient I would find like-minded musicians and be able to produce music that was free of the gimmicky bullshit that has drenched the music scene... and oh, I did. The Child of the Jackyl has been born so prepare to put your horns in the air and bang your fucking head."

The band will be heading into the studio this winter to record their debut EP, Last Son Of Gaia, coming Winter 2013 on Revival Recordings. In anticipation, they are streaming a clip of a song, "Chthonian Descent," right here right now. The single will be available on November 13.

After announcing the addition of vocalist Ashe O'Hara last week, British progressive metal band TesseracT are now streaming their new single — and first tune to feature O'Hara on vocals — online. Check out "Nocturne" below.

"We realize that the vocalist search seemed like it took a long time, but we wanted to make sure that we found someone who was a perfect fit both on stage and in the studio and Ashe is just that," said the band in an official statement. "We very much appreciate the patience and support our fans have shown us and look forward to the next TesseracT chapter."

O'Hara adds, "I have always been an admirer of their work so it's pretty awesome to be passed such a challenging flame. I am very aware of the anticipation and I am certainly feeling the weight of it; but I am equally excited for what shall be an amazing and shithot experience."

There's no word yet on when TesseracT will release their next album or EP.
