Grunge legends Soundgarden have announced King Animal as the title of their forthcoming sixth studio album.

"It re-establishes that we still rock, we're still heavy, and we're still a little weird," guitarist Kim Thayil recently told Rolling Stone.

The follow-up to 1996's Down on the Upside (buy on iTunes) is slated for a November 13 release.

"This is a record filled with all emotions, songs that fall back and forth from major to minor," said Scallions. "I love that it's a heavy record with sing-a-long melodies. You don't hear that too much in this style of music."

Spreading My Wings also features some more familiar faces for rock and metal fans, as it features guest spots from Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, Anthrax's Rob Caggiano, and Fuel's Andy Andersson.

Hardcore-punk outfit Gallows will release the highly anticipated self-titled follow-up to 2009's Grey Britain on September 18. Gallows was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by long-term friends of the band Thomas Mitchener and Steve Sears at Broadfields Studio in Watford in May this year.

"We made this record self-titled as it defines the band known as Gallows as we exist today," the band says. "This is our statement of intent, our laugh in the face of those who said Gallows were done, when in reality, we're just warming up. We couldn't feel more vindicated and proud."

Gallows will tour North America in November; tickets went on sale on Monday.
