Here at Revolver, we're always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it's a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in nu-metal, post-hardcore, stoner-metal and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ. For your listening pleasure, we've also compiled the songs in an ever-evolving Spotify playlist.

Slipknot - "The Chapeltown Rag"
New Slipknot is here and thankfully it whips. On "Chapeltown Rag," the Iowa Nine continue to explore new sonic terrain — specifically, Corey Taylor's trad-metal chorus vocals — while still churning out riffs and grooves that are as pulverizing as ever. Pulling from the neck-snapping swing of their self-titled, the chiseled ferocity of All Hope is Gone and the unforced melodicism of We Are Not Your Kind, the band's first taste of their upcoming record is a promising sign.

Static Dress - "sober exit(s)"
Having spent the last two years dribbling out aesthetically-curated singles instead of full-length projects, Static Dress are playing the game by streaming era rules, but their music sounds like Y2k fever. On "sober exit(s)," vocalist Olli Appleyard channels the voice-cracking screams of Glassjaw's Daryl Palumbo over fizzy guitar riffage that calls back to early Thursday and My Chemical Romance. Just when it sounds like it's building to one final breakdown, the track suddenly ends, leaving us to ravenously refresh their YouTube page until the next one-off materializes.

Venom Prison - "Judges of the Underworld"
Venom Prison aren't trying to make the ugliest, crustiest death metal possible — they're trying to make the most hard-hitting, and "Judges of the Underworld" succeeds. Building atop a foundation of OSDM, the U.K. crushers embrace gigantic-sounding production that carves their riffs and roars into a heavier version of late-Nineties Roadrunner Records bands. Yes, there's stray clean singing on this track, but it ends with the sort of merciless breakdown you'd expect to hear from a beatdown hardcore band. Don't mess with them.

Boris - "Reincarnation Rose"
You never know what you're going to get from Boris, the shape-shifting Japanese art-metal institution who've mastered everything from shoegaze and space-rock to sludge-metal and noise-core. "Reincarnation Rose" idoubles as a glorified demo for their new guitar pedal with your favorite stoner-metal band's favorite company, Earthquaker Devices, so naturally, the gang fires off heaps of bluesy riffage with bushy fuzz that hits your ears the way a strong beach breeze blows sand between your teeth.

Eye Flys - "Dead Larvae"
Eye Flys are a band featuring Full of Hell guitarist Spencer Hazard and their new EP is dropping on hardcore powerhouse Closed Casket Activities, but these guys don't sound like whatever sounds those two entities bring to mind. "Dead Larvae" is noisy, chuggy sludge-metal that begins at the tempo of a giant's stomp and doesn't change pace the whole way through. It just batters itself into the cold, hard dirt again and again until there's nothing left to play or say.
