Here at Revolver, we're always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it's a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in doomgaze, hardcore, death metal and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ. For your listening pleasure, we've also compiled the songs in an ever-evolving Spotify playlist

Blackwater Holylight - "Around You"
Portland's Blackwater Holylight first caught our attention back in 2019 with their whispy take on stoner-rock that borrowed from feathery shoegaze, and they just announced a new album called, Silence/Motion. Its lead single, "Around You," is pleasantly softer and more shimmering than their last two records, but when the doomy fuzz eventually kicks in, they simultaneously recall the graceful Slowdive and the dirgy Cloakroom.

Carcass - "Dance of Ixtab (Psychopomp & Circumstance March No. 1)"
Whereas "Kelly's Meat Emporium," the first single from Carcass's long-awaited new album Torn Arteries, sounded unmistakably at-home in their vast catalog of filthy death metal, this new one is a curveball. The goregrind legends are no strangers to melodic guitar leads, but "Dance of Ixtab"'s main lick is straight-up stoner-rock, and the whole song has a bluesy swing to it. It's still Carcass, and it still rules, but it ain't a Necrotism throwback.

Poorstacy - "Party at the Cemetery"
Last we checked in with Poorstacy, the Palm Beach genre-flipper was adopting a U.K. grime flow over a breakcore-influenced dance-punk ripper called "Public Enemy." That was two months ago, and now he's onto something completely different. His latest jaunt, "Party at the Cemetery," hearkens back to the rock-opera camp of My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade, as Poorstacy wails over barraging emo-punk that's splashed with foggy synths and harried screams. It slaps.

Turnstile - "Fly Again"
Turnstile are just flexing at this point. The Baltimore hardcore heroes have dropped a solid third of their upcoming LP, GLOW ON, and all of the singles have been knockouts. "Fly Again" has an almost reggae-like groove to its verses and a melody that's big enough to get a Coachella festival crowd chirping along. The empty-hearted sentiment, "Still can't fill the hole you left behind," has never sounded as jubilent as it does when Brendan Yates punch-yells that hook.

Lorna Shore - "And Return to Nothingness"
Earlier this year, Lorna Shore released "To the Hellfire," their first single with new vocalist Will Ramos and easily one of the most insane deathcore songs of all time. "And Return to Nothingness" doesn't feature vocals that sound like a dying animal, but it's a goddamn epic deathcore track that has enough symphonic ambiance, high-pitched shrieks and wall-of-sound blast beats to pull in genuine black-metal fans.
