Here at Revolver, we're always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it's a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in metal, hard rock and hardcore that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ. For your listening pleasure, we've also compiled the songs in a Spotify playlist, which will grow each week.

American Nightmare - "Life Support"
Rabid fans are thrilled with the return of American Nightmare (the hardcore veterans led by Cold Cave's Wes Eisold), and one listen to their powerful new two-minute banger shows exactly why. Snarling attitude drips from every carefully placed note, and the raucously messy guitar solo midway through confirms the Boston punks are here to fuck shit up and have a blast doing it.

Me and That Man - "Run With the Devil"
Nergal's bluesy side project is back and rowdier than ever with this fun new romp and its equally entertaining video. It's far from what one would expect if you only know the Polish musician from his work with Behemoth, but it perfectly encapsulates the sort of dark cowboy sound and aesthetic he's crafted over the past several years. Bonus points allotted here for the fantastic saxophone solo.

Fever 333 - "Vandals"
Rap-rock activists Fever 333 rein in their tendency toward the explosive for a sizzling, restrained bop that sounds like an unwatched pot about to boil over. An irresistible beat under it all makes this cut the perfect carrier for the outfit's righteous social commentary, but the eeriness that clocks in near the end of "Vandals"'s three-minute runtime leaves the listener just unsettled enough to sit up and pay closer attention to what the Fever have to say.

Modern Rituals - "The Bull Never Wins"
A lot of bands have tried it over the years, but Modern Rituals really nail that disaffected, terrifically aggro 1990s brand of noise rock on "The Bull Never Wins." Feedback and grimy texture pause for beautifully discordant string bits that interject their own flavor of whimsical rage, ultimately making for a dynamic track that blooms in its own raw, unhinged beauty.

Teeth - "Filth"
Sometimes the only thing that will do the trick is an all-out aural assault, and that's what the tight-as-a-tick Teeth pull out on their bloodthirsty brutalizer "Filth." With nary a second of peace to be found between the chugging, hellbound riffs and throat-shredding screams, this cut is perfect when you're looking to amp yourself up for anything tough — from lifting weights at the gym to fighting a fucking bear. It's visceral murdercore perfected.

Marissa Nadler & Stephen Brodsky - "In the Air Tonight"
With this seemingly improbable Phil Collins cover, the Droneflower duo may have aimed to pay tribute to one of the greatest hits of their childhood — and they did so, beautifully — but they also created something entirely new and emblematic of both their combined and singular talents. The result is a stunningly heavy, dizzyingly fuzzed-out affair that, like the best covers, is a legit reimagining, not mere homage.
