Here at Revolver, we're always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it's a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in metal, hard rock and hardcore that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ. For your listening pleasure, we've also compiled the songs in a Spotify playlist, which will grow each week.

Code Orange - "Swallowing the Rabbit Whole"
The lead single and title track off Code Orange's forthcoming Underneath LP may have been a shock to the system, with its Nineties alt-rock hooks and pulsing industrial beats, but the Pittsburgh firebrands' follow-up single is a whole other beast, and a monstrous one at that: hungry, pissed and unstoppable. If this is the sound of bandleader Jami Morgan stepping out from behind the drums and seizing center stage, we'll take more of that.

Lamb of God - "Checkmate"
For fans wondering what Lamb of God would sound like without founding drummer Chris Adler, the answer is clear: exactly like Lamb of God. "Checkmate," the Virginian metal stalwarts' first new song in four years, builds and explodes into gnarly technical riffage and burly roars as combustive as anything in the group's catalog. And for those who prefer their LOG politically charged, singer Randy Blythe is particularly outraged here, ranting against America's corrupt body politic.

August Burns Red - "Defender"
The first taste of August Burns Red's ninth album, Guardians, is a ferocious call to arms, surging through epic choruses, chugging riffery and not one but two absolutely crushing breakdowns. "You're dead wrong if you thought we'd go soft," the Amish country metalcore veterans tweeted at the time of the song's release earlier this week. Amen.

Napalm Death - "Logic Ravaged by Brute Force"
British grindcore pioneers Napalm Death continue to evolve and experiment. Their latest single, the captivating "Logic Ravaged by Brute Force," swings back and forth between Killing Joke–esque industrialized post-punk and more characteristic bellowed extreme metal. It's a curious fusion, but one that, in such skilled hands, works beautifully.

Halsey - "Experiment on Me"
First, Halsey appeared on Bring Me the Horizon's surprise electronic EP, Music to Listen to ..., released late last year. Now, the pop star has unveiled "Experiment on Me," a slick, sleazy electro-rock ripper co-written by BMTH's Oli Sykes and Jordan Fish for Birds of Prey: The Album, a companion piece to the big Harley Quinn movie. Infectious, fun, distorted and propulsive, it drags the listener along its twisted cyberpunk path. Simply put, this cross-genre collaboration is no joke.

Fotocrime - "Blue Smoke"
It's no secret that we're fans of Fotocrime, the excellent darkwave project fronted by former Coliseum main man Ryan Patterson. The group's latest goth-scarred offering is Sisters of Mercy worship of the best kind, perfectly crafted for a late-night cruise in black leather and sunglasses through the nearest cemetery.
