Here at Revolver, we're always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it's a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in metal, hard rock and hardcore that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ. For your listening pleasure, we've also compiled the songs in a Spotify playlist, which will grow each week.

Jinjer - "Judgement (& Punishment)"
Ukrainian metal upstarts Jinjer are on a hot roll. Their latest banger comes in the form of "Judgement (& Punishment)" — the scorching lead from their just-announced full-length Macro. Heavy on the stretched bass riffs and introducing a reggae element, the track sounds bizarre on paper but plays out in a novel, intriguing way. Tatiana Shmailyuk's operatic vocals take center stage per usual, elevating the metalcore guitar licks before whipping out her virtuosic growling just before you're lulled into thinking this is just another symphonic metal song.

Weeping Icon - "Like Envy"
Swirling up with the inspired steam of a Velvet Underground fever dream, Weeping Icon's supremely cool new jam "Like Envy" is the perfect encapsulation of No Wave ennui with a psych-rock sensibility that relies heavily on distortion and circular riffs that build up then crash into one another like waves in a turbulent sea. Spoken-word vocals evoke the feeling of subliminal messaging, never too on-the-nose but always gripping in their casual delivery.

Warish - "You'll Abide"
Led by our dude Riley Hawk, Warish's brand of snarling, filthy punk is a welcome mix-up from the sometimes convoluted heavy music scene that often relies on esotericism to remain interesting. Sometimes all you really need is a few good chords, a heavy-as-fuck bass riff, a crashing simple drum part, and the attitude to combine them all into less than three minutes of catchy, bopping rock & roll.

Toothgrinder - "I AM"
Toothgrinder's polished sound leans into a mid-aughts emo feel with their latest banger "I AM." The stylish New Jersey crew serves up clean, angelic vocals for most of the deceptively heavy track, adding just enough abrasiveness in the chorus and bridges to even out the emotions on display. A gorgeous string and chimes part just ahead of the final build-up adds suspense and texture, the calm before the final aural storm.

Death Valley High vs. Chino Moreno - "Cavity - First Communion"
Basically anything Chino Moreno touches immediately turns to pure gold, and the gloomy death rock of Death Valley High's new collaboration with him "Cavity – First Communion" is no different. Noisy post-punk riffing and impassioned crooning on the eternally sexy themes of discipline, blood and sin make for a perfect lead-out from a sweltering summer just in time for goth's high season.

Zonal ft Moor Mother - "System Error"
Like the aforementioned Chino Moreno, Justin Broadrick has a knack for spreading himself across various projects while managing to approach each with a dedicated passion that comes through in the music. The hip-hop infused electronic dread of Zonal is another branch in his tree of creation, but under the warm static buzz and slow, clipped beats, "System Error" still holds true to the visionary talent that brought the world Godflesh. A guest spot from Philly rapper Moor Mother is a combination that rocked the big red stage at 2018's Roadburn Festival, and now the pairing has room to breathe and expand on record with this stunning, hypnotic track.
