Amon Amarth: See Pro-Wrestler Erick Redbeard Star in Wild Video for Heavy New Song

Viking metal titans releasing their new album 'The Great Heathen Army' later this summer

Land ho! Viking metal warriors, Amon Amarth, are returning from sea with a new album called the Great Heathen Army, out later this summer. It's the melodeath band's 12th album overall and first since 2019's Berserker, and today they're previewing it with an epic new song called "Get in the Ring" that comes paired with a stunning video featuring pro AEW wrestler Erick Redbeard.

While it serves as the intro track on the upcoming album, it also doubles as the entrance music for Redbeard's wrestling career. Watch and listen above via YouTube.

"Overall The Great Heathen Army is one of the heavier albums we've made," frontman Johan Hagg said of the album. "There are some dark and heavy songs that are really powerful and in-your-face, but we obviously have some trademark melodic Amon Amarth songs on there as well, and a few surprises, too. It's a really well-balanced album."

"We've been away making new music and we're back with new darker, more death-metal sounding album," added guitarist Olavi Mikkonen. "If Berserker was our 'heavy metal' album, then The Great Heathen Army is our 'death metal' album. But with that said, it's still very much contemporary Amon Amarth, but perhaps style-wise we have gone back to our roots a little bit."

The Great Heathen Army is out August 5th via Metal Blade Records and pre-orders are available here. See the cover art and tracklisting below.
