After an inventive hype campaign complete with viral images of frontman crucifixion and a mandate for fans to recite a sacrilegious "prayer" in order to hear a teaser clip, Behemoth have finally dropped the lead single, "God = Dog," off their highly anticipated new album, titled I Loved You at Your Darkest, as well as a characteristically gory and baroque music video, directed by Grupa 13. The absolute ripper of a song comes complete with searing riffage, soaring leads, blast beats aplenty and what sounds to be a Satanic children's choir. The album — the Polish blackened death-metal band's 11th full-length studio offering — is due October 5th via Metal Blade (you can pre-order it here).
"It doesn't get more blasphemous than this," declares Behemoth mastermind Nergal of the album, add of its unusua title: "It's a verse from the Bible. It's actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. For Behemoth to use it as the basis of our record, it's sacrilege to the extreme."
Ahead of the new song, Behemoth recently announced a massive North American tour in support of the record — see dates here, and scroll down for I Loved You at Your Darkest's cover art and track list.
