Between Melvins' first-ever double LP A Walk With Life And Death and his inaugural solo album The Fickle Finger of Fate, Dale Crover gave noise-heads plenty to listen to in 2017. But what about the man himself? Revolver caught up with the drummer for a run-down of his year in music, both new and old: everything from Ty Segall and Bob Dylan to Shit Kid and Sleaford Mods.

Shit Kid - Fish

I stumbled upon Shit Kid going down a social media K-hole and had to check it out on the name alone. Homemade, swampy, verb'd out garage rock with a dragged out, Nancy Sinatra style vocal drawl!

The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers 50th Anniversary Deluxe Version

Giles Martin remixes a classic and manages to not ruin it. His mix gives the overall recording more clarity, and is probably a truer representation of the way the band heard it in the studio.

Cosmic Psychos - Better in the Shed

Great tune and hilarious video! I just saw these guys play a great show on Cup Day in Australia. Any country with a national holiday to bet on the horses is ok in my book.

Lemon Twigs - Brothers Of Destruction

Nice to hear recorded versions of some of the songs I've heard live. The two brothers in this band [Michael and Brian D'Addario] switch off playing drums and guitar, depending on who wrote what. Both talented on vocals and guitar, but for me it's their drumming that is standout! I heard they wanted to both play guitar and get a live drummer. That would be a shame.

The Love Junkies - Cough and Splutter

All the way from Perth, Australia. Melodic but noisy post grunge, post garage with better guitar playing, good screeching/singing and a pounding drummer. Really good stuff and a great live band!

Sleaford Mods - English Tapas

Hands down the best record title of 2017! Vocals are more melodic on this record. That's not a bad thing at all! Fun to crank up at night while driving away from the gig.

Ty Segall - Ty Segall

Ty, on the other hand must've been at a loss for a clever record title but still made a great record with a new band and Steve Albini.

Bob Dylan - Trouble No More, The Bootleg Series Vol. 13

A sober, saved Bob Bootleg Series you say? Why not? I mean, I've already come this far with Bob. I might as well commit all the way.

Modpods - No Strut

My new, new favorite band from L.A.! Somewhat soul-sounding female vocals over weird, dance-y Casio keyboards with drum loops, along with live drums, bass/guitar.

The Side Eyes - So Sick

My other new, new favorite band from L.A.! Astrid McDonald fronts this really great, modern punk band. These songs have become more ferocious live with their constant gigging.
