Between the Buried and Me's 2007 album, Colors, is widely considered one of the best progressive metalcore albums of all time. The North Carolina virtuosos are no strangers to thematic follow-ups (see The Parallax I and II, and Automata I and II) and now after 14 years later, they're giving the landmark prequel its long-awaited sequel, Colors II.
The band have chosen to preview the 12-song opus with an epic track called "Fix the Error," which boasts drum solos from three absolute heavyweights: ex-Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy, Navene Koperweis (Entheos, The Faceless, Animals as Leaders) and Ken Schalk (ex-Candiria). "Colors was very much our attempt at a do-or-die statement," guitarist Paul Waggoner said in a statement. "We had to establish our identity and be who we really wanted to be in order to have a career. This time around, our industry was shut down for a year. Once tours were canceled due to the Pandemic, we were like, 'We've got to write a record, and it's got to be good'. We had to do something next level."
Colors II is due for release August 20th via Sumerian Records. Revolver's exclusive vinyl variant of Colors II on "yellow and blue galaxy" wax is already sold out, but you can try and snag a pre-order from the band's official store. See the artwork and track listing below.
