BLOODYWOOD pick 5 great Indian bands you need to know

Folk-metal sensations shout out some of their lesser known compatriots
bloodywood 2023 PROMO TOUR

India's Bloodywood first made their name by going viral with heavy covers of pop and traditional songs, but they've since become the highest-profile metal band out of their home country on the back of 2022's Rakshak, their debut album of original material.

Considering the group's growing international stature, and their ongoing U.S. headlining tour with Wargasm and Vended, Revolver thought it was a good time to ask Bloodywood to recommend some other heavy bands from India that fans around the world need to know.

Vocalist Jayant Bhadula gladly accepted the assignment — check out his picks below.

Skyharbor

One of the first bands from India that broke the internet with the heavy, djenty sound. Keshav Dhar, the brains behind the project, is a genius: the riffs, the melodies, everything gels up so well, it's unreal. Their song "Evolution" is a perfect example of that.

Demonic Resurrection

The OG flag bearers of Indian metal, Demonic Resurrection is a force to reckon with. Sahil Makhija, the vocalist-guitarist, has been the the pillar of the band, carrying it for more than 20 years now. "The Unrelenting Surge of Vengeance" is a timeless song and great place to start for someone who wants to know their sound.

Pineapple Express

This band consists of some of the most talented minds from India, fusing western and Indian influences seamlessly. Their music can be complex sometimes but always enjoyable. "Vultures" by them is an excellent example of it.

Chaos

Thrash metal all the way from Kerala, India. Chaos's music is a riff fest that will melt your face. They supported us on one of our shows during the Indian tour and, damn, their music, when you listen to it, it's great but live, it's massive. "All Against All" is a perfect place for anyone start off for their music.

As We Keep Searching

Post-rock from India. Their music takes you on a journey through various soundscapes and emotions. They're a treat to watch live. "Kalga" by As We Keep Searching is a great example of how massive their aural spectrum is.
