Mudvayne's 2021 reunion was one of the biggest heavy-music stories of that year — if not the last decade during which the band was hiatus — and fans were particularly heartened to learn that the alt-metal extraterrestrials' return was not some short-term affair. The band are set to spend the whole summer of 2022 together, touring with Rob Zombie, Static-X, and Powerman 5000. And judging from recent comments by singer Chad Gray, there might even be new music on the horizon.

Gray recently appeared on Avenged Sevenfold bassist Johnny Christ's Drinks With Johnny podcast and, in a quick aside, revealed that Mudvayne could have plans to write new material sometime soon. At the very end of the interview (which can you view in full below), the singer tells Christ that he's excited to hear new Avenged Sevenfold music and hopes that Mudvayne is "going to be working on some new shit soon, too."

"I'm really excited to hear your new shit, and Mudvayne is hopefully going to be working on some new shit soon, too," Gray says. "So awesome. I can't wait to definitely get our heads together. Maybe we could do some do some touring or something someday."

A new Mudvayne album would be the band's first since 2009's self-titled LP.
