Chester Bennington's First Band: Hear Grey Daze's "Shouting Out (Stripped)"

Intimate, acoustic reworking previews forthcoming 'Amends… Stripped' EP

Before Chester Bennington rose to global stardom fronting Linkin Park, the late singer cut his teeth in Phoenix-based crew Grey Daze. This past summer the surviving members of the group released Amends — an album of reworked songs featuring the singer's original vocals and all-star contributions from members of Korn, Helmet, Breaking Benjamin, Orgy and more.

Today (December 11th), Grey Daze announced the imminent arrival of a new five-song EP Amends… Stripped with the release of "Shouting Out (Stripped)" — an intimate, acoustic take of Amends' emotive closing track.

"One of the more interesting things about working with such a great singer like Chester, is the more you take away from his surroundings, the more you get to appreciate and hear all of the subtle nuances of his voice," explains Grey Daze co-founder and drummer Sean Dowdell. "He was a very special vocalist with an amazing writing ability, and it was very meaningful for us to use these different vocal performances on the acoustic version of 'Shouting Out.'"

Amends … Stripped is due out on January 29th via Loma Vista Recordings. Pre-orders are available now — including Revolver's exclusive limited-edition clear vinyl variant. The vinyl release includes a trio of Nineties-era interviews with the band from the new defunct Phoenix alternative radio station, KEDG.

Amends… Stripped track list:
1. Shouting Out (Stripped)
2. Sometimes (Stripped)
3. Soul Song (Stripped)
4. What's in the Eye (Stripped)
5. The Syndrome (Stripped)
