Code Orange may play some of the heaviest metallic hardcore being made today, but their musical tastes are diverse and far-reaching and they refuse to be put in any easily definable box. The band members have demonstrated this in their currently-on-pause indie-rock side project Adventures and with the lineup of their recent headlining tour, which they curated with a genre-oblivious mix of artists, including Ghostemane, Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, Vein and Nicole Dollanganger. Yesterday (September 1st), the Pittsburgh group followed this same open-minded spirit and took the stage at Jay-Z's Made in America festival, an event that always leans towards rap, pop, R&B and EDM, with Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone and Diplo topping this year's bill. Photographer Angela Owens was there with the band in Philly to catch all the action, as they soundchecked, hung out backstage, explored the festĀ and ultimately did everything they could to destroy it.
