In a newly published interview with Metal Hammer, Corey Taylor outlines what's to come for fans when Slipknot drop their new record, which is reportedly arriving sometime in 2019. Describing the sound as, "'What if the guys who made Iowa matured? What if the kids who made Iowa grew up?" Taylor also tells listeners one of the shortlisted tracks to make the final cut is one of the heaviest the band have written to date.

"At a time when most bands are slowing down, I think we've written our heaviest song – one of them anyway – on this new album ... It's going to be fucking crazy. People are going to shit their pants when they hear it."

The album, set tentatively for release sometime next summer, will be the group's follow-up to 2014 outing 5: The Gray Chapter. In addition to the participation in this month's Iowa-based horror attraction Slaughterhouse and planning for studio time in early 2019, Slipknot have confirmed they are in the early stages of planning a world tour to coincide with the release.
