Order Slipknot's THE END, SO FAR on colored vinyl, CD and limited-edition cassette at Revolver's shop.

Every time Slipknot release an album, there's always a vocal group of online haters who make their negative opinions on the band's new material well known. The Iowa Nine's latest opus, THE END, SO FAR, is one of their most experimental yet, so naturally, the naysayers who always want the band to return to the Iowa sound they moved past 20 years ago are having a field day.

Corey Taylor isn't having it. In a new interview with NME, the frontman became exasperated while talking about the maggot cohort who are expressing surprise at the direction Slipknot took on their seventh record. His message to those people critiquing its perceived flaws? "Shut the fuck up and listen to what we give you."

"One of the problems about writing one of the heaviest fucking albums of all time is that people just expect you to do that over and over," Taylor said in reference to 2001's Iowa, objectively their heaviest release. "Well, fuck, that's so boring."

"When people hear [THE END, SO FAR], they go, 'Well, that's a departure.' It's like, what are you, fucking new?' We've spent 20-plus years throwing people for a loop," Taylor emphasized.

He's not wrong. Every album since 2004's Vol. 3 has seen Slipknot add something — more melody, thrashier riffs, stranger production, freakier song structures — different to the sound they established on Iowa. So to pretend that THE END, SO FAR is some unexpected pivot is, as Taylor feels, a little ridiculous.

"You also have to remember a large part of the population are also people who have created petitions against every Batman that has ever been fucking cast in a movie, and they've always been wrong," Taylor added. "Who's really right here?

"You fucking idiots, sometimes you just need to shut the fuck up and listen to what we give you."

He concluded his PSA by directing a few words to the Slipknot fans who've "bullshitted themselves into thinking that if they bitch enough that they're gonna get what they want."

"That only happens with weak-minded people," he concluded.
