Corey Taylor recently gave fans an update on new Slipknot music, revealing he's currently writing lyrics for the follow-up to 2014's .5: The Gray Chapter, which will "absolutely" arrive next year. Now, the frontman has given maggots a sneak peek at one of the in-progress songs with an Instagram photo showing some of the lyrics he's written so far. Scroll down to check it out.

Despite Taylor's pen and (and badass "Doctor Who" mug) obscuring most of the lyrics, one can make out several words and phrases, including "Tomorrow," "Hey, Hey," "Oh no," "Let's hear it," and "fist," among others. Its title, meanwhile, begins with "Birth of." The birth of what, exactly? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Taylor told Musik Universe he's received six "really, really good" demos from his bandmates for the new record so far, which features some of his most personal lyrics to date. "It's probably the most autobiographical I've been in years, just for the fact that I've been through a lot the last few years, and I've been sitting on a lot," the singer explained. "So I'm writing from the standpoint of where I am now instead of where I was, which is so easy to tap into sometimes, and it's so easy to just kind of go there almost on impulse; but now, I'm writing it from the standpoint of a man who's been through a lot — not just a young man, but an older man — and trying to figure things out."

Working... #slipknot
