If the Slipknot and Stone Sour singer had his way, every day would be finger-lickin’ good

These are busy times for Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor: The 'Knot have just released the DVD Voliminal: Inside the Nine, and he's touring in support of Stone Sour's second hit album, Come What(ever) May. Still, Taylor—who used to make his living as a clerk at the Adult Emporium in his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa—found the time to discuss the importance of mashed potatoes, staying awake, and lube.

Favorite Number: 8
It's always been my lucky number. [No. 8 is also his Slipknot alias.] When I was a kid and stressed out, I counted my steps by eights—all even numbers on my right foot, all the odds on my left. If I misstepped, I had to stop and reset my head. It was weird. But it eventually stopped.

Favorite Animal: Cats
My cat, Sylvia, kills bats. I have a hundred-year-old house with these brown bats. Sylvia kills them and leaves them out for people to see. Gruesome.

Favorite Road Food: Fried Chicken
Anywhere selling fried chicken is my mecca. There's a KFC in almost every country. But in England, they don't have mashed potatoes and gravy. How do you eat KFC without fucking mash and gravy? That's bullshit.

Least Favorite Activity: Sleeping
I only sleep four to six hours a night. There's something creepy about involuntarily laying down and going unconscious for hours at a time.

Favorite TV Show: Law & Order
I've got a lot of favorites, but you can't fuck with Law & Order. It's pretty much on at any given time. But every time I turn it on, it's one I've seen. Make more! Feed me!

Favorite Comic Book Movie: Batman Begins
Much better than that Tim Burton piece of shit. The technology is all believable. If you had that kind of stupid cash on hand and wanted to be a superhero, that technology's available.

Favorite Stephen King book: The Stand: Unabridged Version
What attracted me was that everything seemed definite—definite good, definite evil—but eventually, you see little nuances. This incredible catastrophe happened, and people had to choose sides. But the people who chose sides were not necessarily good or evil. I love the dichotomy—the very human nature of it.

Favorite Grandma Story: "Head Full of Shit"
I was sitting at her house one time. She walked in, kinda grumpy, stuffed up, and sneezing. I asked if she's sick. And she said, "I'm not sick. My head's just full of shit." We cackled about that for a week.

Favorite Adult Emporium Item: The Fist
Five pounds of rubber in the shape of Popeye's arm. Stupid big. These petite women would buy this. I'd let them do their thing but offer lubes and lotions. They'd say, "No." And I'd say, "You're going to regret it."
