Corey Taylor has some new updates on the forthcoming Slipknot record, and it's good news all around. On a February 2nd appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk," the frontman revealed that the follow-up to 2019's We Are Not Your Kind is fully recorded, the cover art is done and the band have even landed on a title. What's more, fans should be able to hear a single in the not-too-distant future, and the entire record in a matter of months.

"The record is actually in the process of being mixed right now," Taylor said, as transcribed by Blabbermouth. "Everything is finished, so it's just being mixed right now, which is rad news. So it's probably gonna take… I think it's probably gonna be another three months [before it's released]. The artwork's done. We just came up with the title. I'm not gonna tell you it right now. But we're really stoked. So hopefully three months from now — well, less than that — we'll get the single out, and then three months from now we'll get the album out."

We already heard the first single, 2021's crushing and cerebral "Chapeltown Rag," but Taylor also gave some more insight into what the Iowa maniacs' seventh LP is going to sound like. The words "darker" and "heavier" were thrown around, and that's what we like to hear.

"It's really killer, man," Taylor told Trunk. "It's darker than We Are Not Your Kind, but there's a ton of melody. I've been telling everybody that it's like a heavier version of Vol. 3[: (The Subliminal Verses)]. It's got so many textures and layers. The heavy stuff has attack but the melodic stuff you can just sink your teeth in; there's a lot of great melodies and hooks. I'm really, really excited for people to hear it."

If all goes as planned, then North American fans will likely be treated to some new material when Slipknot embark on their Knotfest Roadshow tour this spring alongside Cypress Hill, In This Moment, Jinjer and Ho99o9. Peep those dates here.
