The ever quotable Corey Taylor has spoken once again, and this time he's opened up about what might happen to Slipknot should he ever find himself at the end of his days with the band. Asked if he would ever retire from the Nine in a new interview with Metal Hammer, the powerhouse singer, who also fronts Stone Sour, admitted, "I mean, it's crossed my mind as the years have gone on. It's gotten harder to do this. You think about when the end is. No one thought we'd be doing it 20 years later."
Taylor first performed with the 'Knot in 1997 and made his recording debut on their self-titled second demo, which was used to shop around to labels and producers. Yet, despite his long-running career with the Iowa band and his personal identification with the group, Taylor added that he would be fine with Slipknot moving on in the future without him.
"If I just couldn't do it anymore, I'd just stop, but that doesn't mean that the band would stop," the singer explained. "If I can't do it then someone might be able to take my place ... If the right person came around and the guys were into it then I'll just head off. We can't shortchange anyone."
Luckily, the frontman isn't going anywhere quite yet, as he and his masked cohorts are set to kick off the first-ever Knotfest Roadshow tour in two days, on July 26th in Mountain View, California. Slipknot's highly anticipated album, We Are Not Your Mind, is, of course, due out August 9th.
