Spiritbox have a singular enough sound that when you hear a song of theirs, it's hard to mistake it for someone else. Even so, there's enough variety within the Canuck alt-metal crew's budding discography (one full-length, several EPs, a handful of singles) that picking a single cut that encapsulates their whole heavy-catchy spectrum is no easy task.
With that in mind, what's the best Spiritbox song to play for someone who's never heard Spiritbox before?
We posed that question to frontwoman Courtney LaPlante, and after taking a breath to mull it over, she ended up selecting what she thinks is the perfect Spiritbox point of entry.
"Jaded"
That's a good question. I feel like our new song "Jaded"… If I wanted to show someone a song that would make it so they weren't so surprised by the next song or the third song I showed them, I feel like that one would be a good healthy mix of everything.
I feel comfortable showing that to someone and not being like, 'Oh, but.' There's no caveat for that one. It's [like], This is what you're going to get from this band. This is where I feel comfortable in myself.
