Cradle of Filth's Dani Filth Gets Lunch With Ed Sheeran

Dani Filth posts picture with popstar after "having just done something fun"

It appears that Cradle of Filth's collaboration with Ed Sheeran actually happened. Last year, the pop mega-star revealed he was a secret metalhead who grew up loving bands like Slipknot, Cradle of Filth and Bring Me the Horizon — the latter of whom Sheeran performed and recorded with earlier this year.

In 2021, rumors swirled that Sheeran and Cradle of Filth singer Dani Filth were in touch and potentially working on a collaboration, which Filth played down in interviews, while also admitting that the two had texted a bit. Things have progressed significantly since then, and now the two Englishman — one popstar and one black-metal ghoul — are chummy enough to be eating lunch together.

Today (December 22nd), Cradle of Filth posted a picture of Filth and Sheeran eating out together and having a couple brews after what was likely some kind of recording session. "A little over a week ago I was having lunch with the unlikely lads, having just done something fun," Filth wrote on Twitter.

He didn't offer any more details about what the "fun" entailed, but we have a hunch that some new music was recorded. God knows what it'll end up sounding like, but we can't help but smile at seeing one of the biggest stars in music casually dining with a guy who's written songs called "Necromantic Fantasies."
