On the latest episode of Josh Homme's Beats 1 radio show The Alligator Hour, the Queens of the Stone Age frontman brings his longtime collaborator and former bandmate Dave Grohl onto the program to discuss everything from how their children's musical tastes affect their own to Weird Al's ridiculously loud live shows.

"It's funny. I tried turning my kids onto tons of stuff and it worked," Grohl admits, adding his daughter has already cycled through the obsession with David Bowie that he tried to instill. "But now I find that they turn me onto stuff. So like most of the stuff that I'm going to play today are songs that I love because I hear them coming out of my daughter's room."

One artist that both fathers hear a lot is young chart-topper Billie Eilish, who they agree is "dark" and "super heavy."

Grohl goes on to recount attending an Eilish concert with his daughter, saying: "We went to go see her play and then we got to meet her and her family. And her family's awesome. And they took Violet in because they understood her connection with Billie's music. And that was the thing when we went to go see Billie Eilish at The Wiltern it honestly ... felt like you were a part of something that was just about to just explode. It's the connection she has with her audience. She's like Morrissey."

Two other pop artists that come up in the chat are hip-hop tycoon Rihanna and R&B star SZA. Grohl claims his enjoyment of those musicians stems from their ability to use different inventive beats. "I mean, there's that drummer part of me," he says. To which Homme retorts, "Yeah, that small part of you."

The friends have been playing together for 28 years now, one of the longest working relationship for either. The two also talk for a bit about the first time they met and Grohl's attendance at early Kyuss shows. Homme calls the union "a blessed thing," and Grohl agrees, waxing nostalgic with, "I wouldn't do it with anybody else if it weren't as good."

They segue into a conversation about music comedian Weird Al Yankovic, who is "the nicest guy of all time" according to the host. The Foo Fighters singer jumps in with own experience, asserting that Yankovic is actually extraordinarily loud onstage. "I saw him at the Paramount Theater in Seattle in 1994, and I'm not kidding. It was one of the loudest shows I've ever been to," he muses. "It was like Motörhead loud."
