Deftones Side Project Crosses: Hear New Cover of George Michael's "One More Try"

Chino Moreno and Shaun Lopez take on classic '80s ballad

Crosses (†††) — the electronic-rock duo of Deftones' Chino Moreno and Far's Shaun Lopez — are closing out the year in style. In 2020, they instituted a holiday ritual by sharing a surprise cover of Cause & Effect's "The Beginning of the End" on Christmas Eve, a tradition they continued in 2021 with a take on Q Lazzarus' "Goodbye Horses." Today (December 23rd), for 2022, they've offered up a cover of "One More Try," George Michaels' iconic Eighties ballad off his debut, Faith. Moreno's vocals wrap perfectly around the song's themes of temptation and new love, while church-organ-like synths hum below.

2022 has been a huge year for Crosses, as the twosome capped off their comeback with an excellent new six-track EP, PERMANENT.RADIANT, released earlier this month. As Moreno and Lopez revealed in a recent interview with Revolver, there's a lot more music in the pipeline, including what they claim is their heaviest song yet. The band also plan to play shows in 2023 — which will be their first live performances in nine years.
