Disturbed Fans Share Stories of Addiction, Depression in "A Reason to Fight" Video

Band launches "You Are Not Alone" campaign for mental health awareness

Chart-topping rock band Disturbed has adopted mental health and addiction as major causes as the group tours in support of its latest album, 2018's Evolution. The band members — who have all seen people close to them struggle with addiction — address the topic on the hit song "A Reason to Fight," and at each of Disturbed's concerts they've been furthering the message by asking attendees to raise their hands if they have personally dealt with addiction or depression, or know someone who has, as a way of destigmatizing the issues and helping fans realize that they're not alone. Singer David Draiman will also invite audience members onstage to share their personal stories, and the band later projects on large screens the phone numbers for the National Addiction Hotline (800-662-4357) and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255).

The new music video for "A Reason to Fight" captures this aspect of Disturbed's live show and features emotional testimonials from concert-goers who bravely open up abut their struggles with addiction and/or depression. "Through the strength and support of our extended family, we can make a difference to those who fight this war," Draiman commented. "We must continue to be their allies, their hope, their added source of strength. We must continue to give all of them a reason to fight."

To that end, the band has started the "You Are Not Alone" campaign, which invites fans to join the conversation and show others they're not alone in the fight. You can participate at disturbed.lnk.to/youarenotalone.
