2020 was to be a big year for New Orleans sludge supergroup Down. The band had announced the reunion of its classic core lineup — Philip Anselmo on vocals, Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan and Crowbar's Kirk Windstein on guitars, and Eyehategod's Jimmy Bower on drums — for a series of festival shows to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the group's seminal debut album, NOLA. Then a little thing called COVID-19 swept the globe, all the fests got canceled and Down's anniversary plans went up in smoke.

But these metal lifers are a hard group to keep, well, down, and today (August 11th), after much hype and speculation, the band have announced a sure-to-be-crushing livestream show, which will see the aforementioned quartet along with bassist Pat Bruders playing NOLA in its fucking entirety. Dubbed The Quarter Century Throwdown, the concert is set for August 29th at 6 p.m ET and will be rebroadcast August 30th at 6:00pm EST until September 1st at 6:00pm EST. Livestream tickets (just $9) and packages are available for order now.

"Down was a simple band started by friends with a love of heavy music and the songs on the NOLA album were magic from the first rehearsal," Down commented in a joint statement. "We're extremely grateful to be celebrating the NOLA record with a live stream that the world can see. Watch the show and plug in through your loudest stereo! We love y'all!"

10% of ticket sales will be donated to the United Houma Nation (UHN), a state-recognized tribe of approximately 17,000 members residing within a six-parish (county) service area along the Southeastern coast of Louisiana. The United Houma Nation is committed and dedicated to preserving and maintaining the tribe's culture and way of life even as its land is disappearing. In addition, 10% of proceeds raised from a special, limited Down/United Houma Nation T-shirt will also be donated to the UHN — you can pre-order it now.
