Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie says that he's open to working with former drummer Mike Portnoy again. Back in 2010, Portnoy notoriously left the prog-metal band he co-founded in 1985 and had been on rocky terms with his ex-bandmates throughout the last decade. However, back in March, the drummer publicly attended a Dream Theater show — seeing them live for the first time in 11 years — and afterwards posted pictures of him hanging with the band backstage with smiles on their faces.

Since then, both parties have expressed that their long-running beef has been squashed, and now LaBrie is even saying that there's a possibility he might work with Portnoy on something down the line.

"I think anything is possible," the singer told Scott Penfold during an interview with Loaded Radio, as transcribed by Blabbermouth. "Listen, Mike and I are in a great place. We've been texting back and forth from time to time. I wished him a happy birthday; he wished me a happy birthday… So we're staying in touch."

"Listen, Mike's a great musician," he continued. "Put it this way… Who knows what the future holds? Maybe there'll be a day and I'll go, 'Holy shit. This track would be perfect to have Mike do this.' Or it might be something that comes from him, from his side. So we'll see. You know what? I'm open.

"And that's the thing, is that we're in a really good place now. And yeah, it should have happened a long time ago. But human beings, we have a tendency to… our pride gets the best of us."

We'll see what happens!
