Enter Subspace Chaos With the Armed's Black Metal-Inflected New Song "Witness"

Dillinger Escape Planesque hardcore outfit drop surreal video for latest single

Remember the power of chaos? Dillinger Escape Plan knew it, so did GG Allin and Iggy Pop, but lately our culture of musical homogeny has bred all too many bands that seem more concerned with keeping up with the Joneses than with formulating an actual plan for standing out from the middling masses. The Armed's untitled 2015 LP was built to explode out of the crowd, containing adventurousness cover art that nodded to Bowie's Aladdin Sane yet was also weird enough to be it's own entity, and excellent ADD-riddled songwriting that kept the listener on their toes constantly.

Now the Armed, who apply some of the same chaotic principles as Dillinger in their live show, are back, and their latest single "Witness" points toward an influence from black metal, reapplying hardcore ideas and techniques toward a different, but still chaotic and rambunctious, direction. It's muscular, epic and just plain great — and it makes total sense that Ben Koller (Converge, et al.) plays on the track. Check out the wild video for the song above and look for their new ONLY LOVE LP on April 27th.
