Evanescence: See Amy Lee's Haunting Cover of Everly Brothers' "Love Hurts"

A duet with Eurythmics singer Dave Stewart

While Evanescence are emblematic of 21st century heavy music, singer Amy Lee has always had a soft spot for classic pop-rock songwriting. Through her covers of everyone from the Beatles and Led Zeppelin to U2 and Chris Isaak, Lee has demonstrated that she loves melody and songcraft as much as she does sheer hard-rock power.

For her latest take on a timeless classic, Lee teamed with Eurythmics singer Dave Stewart for a cover of the Everly Brothers' "Love Hurts," a 1960 country-pop tune that's best known for the power-ballad spin Nazareth put on it in 1974.

"SO, a bunch of legendary artists have come together and made tribute covers in honor of the incredible, timeless Everly Brothers," Lee wrote in an Instagram post announcing the song. "I'm very excited to announce that I've teamed up with the one and only Dave Stewart for a very special version of LOVE HURTS."

Lee's version of the track premiered over the weekend (June 19th) at the Hey Doll Baby Festival, an event celebrating the lives and musical legacies of the prolific Everly Brothers. Check out a pro-shot music video of Lee and Stewart's performance above via YouTube.
