Faith No More had fans in a tizzy late last year when they revealed plans to reassemble in 2020 for their first shows in four years, which will go down in the summer across a series of European festivals. In a new interview with Kerrang!, Faith No More keyboardist and founding member Roddy Bottum discussed the impending performances, as well as the possibility of the group releasing a follow-up to 2015 reunion album Sol Invictus. Unfortunately, it looks like there could be an extended wait for a new FNM record — if one ever happens at all.
"You know, there's no plans right now to record any new music," Bottum said. "There's no plans at all. I think we're all at an age, or at a time in our lives, where looking back at what we've done is a profound place to be. I'm super-proud of what we've done in a way that I haven't been before."
The musician, who also splits his time between other groups like Nastie Band and Imperial Teen, explained the making of Sol Invictus by noting how he felt kinda "dirty" when FNM were coasting solely on their back catalog, saying it was like they "were taking advantage of the world by just going out there and playing old songs."
That sentiment has changed these days. "For whatever reason I'm in a different place with that right now," Bottum commented. "I think our legacy speaks for itself in the way the world is right now. It's refreshing and it's appropriately provocative to throw ourselves into the world again." See the band's upcoming itinerary below.
