While many bands tentatively regained their tour legs when things opened back up last summer, the dog days of 2022 are shaping up to be an even bigger season for live music. From the return of hardcore festivals and countless small club tours, to A-list acts like Rage Against the Machine and Rammstein finally making their return to North American stages, there's a lot to look forward to in the coming months.

That said, we asked our readers to pick the bands they're most stoked to catch as the temperatures climb. Out of the many options, the five bands ranked accordingly below were the top vote-getters. See what you need to scoop tickets for.

5. Alice in Chains

Last year, Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell focused on rolling out and touring in support of his first solo LP in nearly two decades, but 2022 belongs to AIC. The Seattle alt-rock pioneers are playing their first shows since 2019 from late summer through early fall, and after the last few years we've all endured, people have a right to have their ears mowed over by "Them Bones," "Man in the Box" and other classics in an amphitheater.

4. Mudvayne

Nu-metal extraterrestrials Mudvayne reunited last year to play their first shows in over 10 years, but the gigs only totaled up to a handful of festival appearances. This summer, they'll actually be returning to the road to perform Aughts rippers like "Dig" and "Determined" to hungry audiences all throughout the U.S. "Happy?" Yes we are.

3. Rage Against the Machine

Yes, it's finally happening. The massive haul of shows Rage Against the Machine announced way back in 2019 — originally scheduled for 2020, then 2021, and now 2022 — are at long last set to commence this summer, and the energy in those pits is going to be utterly seismic. More politically relevant than ever and musically fired-up enough to meet the moment, RATM will return just when we need them most.

2. Anthrax

Anthrax have been a band for over 40 years now, and this summer they're celebrating that milestone with a hefty trek across the States with Black Label Society and Hatebreed. Surely, Scott Ian and Co. will be hammering out thrash staples from all throughout their trailblazing catalog, so there's clearly a lot to be excited about. Prepare to be caught in a mosh.

1. Rammstein

Every band on this list are fantastic live acts, but Rammstein shows are something else entirely — part concert, part perverted theater and part pyrotechnic spectacle. The German lunatics rarely make it over to North America for more than a few gigs at a time, so their run of dates later this summer — marking their first-ever stadium trek this side of the pond — have people rightfully stoked.
