Grief is heavy. It hangs, draped over one's shoulders like a weighted blanket. Sometimes you can get used to the burden, sometimes its gravitational pull is so present that it drags you back down to your knees in sorrow. These are the emotions that Guts Club meditate on during "Change My Name," a nine-minute post-metal meltdown that seeks catharsis in ear-bleeding noise and pained trudges.

It's the latest single from New Orleans band's upcoming album, CLIFFS/WALLS, and we're proud to be premiering it below. Whether or not you've personally been afflicted by grief, you can hear its all-encompassing power on "Change My Name." Like all good metal, it makes you feel things. Take it in.

"'Change My Name' is a love song about wading through a loved one's profound grief," the band says. "Grief takes on many forms and can alter the trajectory of one's life and relationships. The song is a reflection on how obsessive love can manifest from intense grief."

CLIFF/WALLS is due out January 13th and is currently available for pre-order here.
