Detroit-based quintet Octopus takes Technicolor psychedelia and Seventies hard rock-isms to create something that feels familiarly retro yet intriguing different. Their latest video is for "Beyond the Center," from the quintet's forthcoming LP Supernatural Alliance, a track that clearly shows the group's favoritism to Yes, Deep Purple and Blue Cheer while maintaining a strong pop songwriting core that should make fans of Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats very happy. The song, which makes its debut here today, is a swaggering lysergic trip, made for cranking at high volume while on leafy-green substances. Make no mistake though, even those averse to our five-fingered friend can lock into these grooves and hummable choruses. Check it out above. Supernatural Alliance is due March 30th; you can pre-order yours now via via Rise Above Records.
