GHOST: Hear CHEZ KANE's glam-metal cover of "Mary on a Cross"

'60s psychedelic hit gets '80s-style revamp

Order Ghost's Seven Inches of Satanic Panic EP on new, limited-edition purple vinyl at Revolver's shop.

One of three sisters fronting the U.K. melodic hard-rock group Kane'd, Chez Kane released her second solo album, Powerzone, last October, and today (February 13th) she's followed it up with a stand-alone cover of Ghost's viral smash "Mary on a Cross."

As the story goes, Ghost's original was recorded in 1969 by the short-lived earliest incarnation of the band, fronted by Papa Nihil, and as such, the tune has a fun, psychedelic spin to it befitting the era of its birth. Chez Kane's rendition — recorded with Crazy Lixx's Danny Rexon, who produced Powerzone — transplants the song into a later decade, reinventing it as an Eighties-style glam-rock anthem. Check it out above.

"I'm so excited to have teamed up with Danny Rexon again to release our take on the amazing song by Ghost, 'Mary on a Cross,'" Kane commented. "Now remember guys … if your neighbors can't hear it, it's not loud enough!"
