Congratulations to Ghost, who took home a 2022 American Music Award! Papa Emeritus IV and the Nameless Ghouls were nominated for this year's Impera in the Favorite Rock Album category — the first-ever AMAs rock category — and the Swedish Satanic juggernaut beat out some huge names to take the prize including the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay. Perhaps best of all for metalheads, Impera also topped mainstream sellout, the hit pop-punk album by the Slipknot-dissing, System of a Down-butchering Machine Gun Kelly. See the full list of nominees below.

The winners of the American Music Award are all voted by fans. Nominees in the 37 categories were selected based on key fan interactions through Billboard charts, including streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay and tour grosses.

Favorite Rock Album nominees:
Coldplay – Music of the Spheres
Ghost – Impera
Imagine Dragons – Mercury – Act 1
Machine Gun Kelly – mainstream sellout
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Unlimited Love
