Gojira have the best-selling album in the entire country right now. The current Revolver cover stars' new album, Fortitude, had a fantastic opening sales week by ascending to No. 1 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart.

As Metal Injection points out, the French titans' seventh album landed all the way at No. 12 on the almighty Billboard top 200 chart, but the record managed to beat out DJ Khaled's new LP and take home the gold on the aforementioned Top Album Sales chart. It moved a whopping 24,104 pure units to earn that title, which is a really impressive first-week sales figure for any modern act — let alone a metal band like Gojira.

What's more, it was the best opening sales week in Gojira's history. Their 2016 opus, Magma, landed at No. 24 on the Billboard 200 and moved 17,000 units, while their previous record, 2012's L'enfant Sauvage, peaked at No. 34 and sold just 11,000 copies. In other words, Gojira appear to be way more popular now than ever before. And to achieve those numbers with an album that arrived after more than a year without touring due to a global pandemic? That's some serious fortitude.
