HALESTORM's LZZY HALE front SKID ROW for first time: See videos and setlist

At Walker's Bluff Casino Resort in Carterville, Illinois

Back in March, Skid Row announced that singer Erik Grönwall, who'd joined the band in 2022, was stepping away, and that Halestorm leader Lzzy Hale would be taking his place for an upcoming round of U.S. dates. Last night, in Carterville, Illinois, Hale played her first show with Snake Sabo, Rachel Bolan and Co., and she was just as awesome fronting the group as fans knew she would be.

The 14 song set included all the hits — "Slave to the Grind, "18 to Life," "I Remember You," "Youth Gone Wild" and more — with Hale showcasing her powerhouse voice and charismatic stage presence throughout.

Grönwall split with Skid Row in order to focus on treatment for a leukemia diagnosis. "I love Skid Row, I have nothing but respect for the guys in the band but I love and respect my health more," he explained in March. "I'm getting stronger and healthier every day but after consulting my doctor I need to allow myself more time to recover, which I can't do as the lead singer of Skid Row. That's why I have reached the tough decision to move on."

For Hale, fronting Skid Row is a dream come true. "I can honestly tell you right now that I would not be the rocker that I am today without Skid Row and those albums," she told New Jersey radio station 105.5 WDHA, "because not only did they have those beautiful melodies and the vocal prowess and the riffs and the loud noise that I loved, but then the subject matter they were talking about was always very real and it hit me at the right time in the right place. And so this is just a beautiful example of that age doesn't matter. Time doesn't matter. Whenever you discover music, it doesn't matter. It's when it hits you."

While she remains committed to her main band, Hale also added that she's open to playing more dates with Skid Row. "You never know. I will say something that most likely will happen is that these will not be the only four dates you ever hear. I will say that. As far as me being the permanent member of Skid Row, we're gonna all have to find a plateau in our schedules to do that. But you never know. Sounds like a pretty good gig for me, if I ever get to that point."

Hale's next show with Skid Row is tonight in Riverside, Iowa.
