U.K. metalcore vets Architects are gearing up to unleash their ninth record, Those That Wish to Exist, on February 26th. Today (January 20th), the band has shared the new single "Dead Butterflies," which arrives with a cinematic performance video filmed at London's iconic venue Royal Albert Hall.
The band — vocalist Sam Carter, drummer Dan Searle, bassist Ali Dean and guitarists Josh Middleton and Adam Christianson — push themselves into some heavy musical and thematic territory on the 15-song, hour-long Those That Wish to Exist. They pair their dire lyrical concepts — the push-pull between hope and nihilism in a world that's falling apart — with ambitious stadium-sized metalcore featuring French horns, strings, synths, and alien-like vocal processors.
"Everything feels a lot grander than before," Carter told us of their musical ambitions, "and it feels a lot bigger and it feels like we were in a position to do the ideas justice."
Those That Wish to Exist also features three all-star guest vocalists: Parkway Drive's Winston McCall, Royal Blood's Mike Kerr and Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil. Order your copy here.
