Hear ASHNIKKO channel nu-metal fury on new song "You Make Me Sick"

Alt-pop singer goes trap-metal on her "angriest, most cathartic song to date"

Whether it's her blue-raspberry-colored hair or even more vividly colorful voice, Ashnikko makes a striking impression. The singer-rapper's 2021 mixtape, Demidevil, saw her try on a wardrobe's worth of musical outfits ranging from squelchy hyperpop to salacious pop-trap, but the 26-year-old has a metal side, too. In 2020, she enlisted U.K. metalcore heavyweights Employed to Serve for an awesomely metal makeover of her song "Cry" (originally featuring Grimes), and now she's diving further into that lane by dropping her heaviest solo track yet, "You Make Me Sick!"

With booming bass, metallic drums and a fierce, seething vocal delivery that verges on straight-up roar, Ashnikko utterly bodies an unnamed ex-boyfriend with lyrical warfare and a chilling vocal performance reminiscent of trap-metal purveyors like Rico Nasty.

"I've decided to come back with my angriest, most cathartic song to date," Ashnikko said in a press release. "My own personal rage room for me to smash my plates."
