Avatar are hard at work on their upcoming ninth album, but while fans wait with baited breath, the theatrical Swedish metal troupe have unleashed a stop-gap new single, "Valley of Disease." It's a pummeling affair that finds the band in fine, ferocious form. Blast it above via its lyric video.
"There is a sickness, a stranger, and a harmful way," vocalist Johannes Eckerström commented. "A twisted landscape untouched by the sun. I leave the rest up to either you or me, but never both at the same time. You can only enter this place alone, and my path isn't yours. Your secret is safe with me, but so is mine."
In their immediate future, Avatar are set to open for Iron Maiden in Brazil before heading out on their own headlining U.K. and Europe trek, with Veil of Maya playing in direct support, early next year.
