Last month, Japan's Babymetal announced their fourth album ,The Other One (out March 2023), marking the band's first full-length since 2019's Metal Galaxy. Lead single, "Divine Attack," was a notable deviation from Babymetal's signature kawaii-metal vibe, injecting their sound with subtler, more technical musical components.
Now, they're back with another taste off the new record called "Monochrome," and it's another track that offers a new direction for Babymetal. This one has djenty riffs and an ascendant chorus that almost has a power-ballad feel to it, taking a slightly more mature — but no less catchy — approach compared to the playful dance bops of their previous albums.
