Hear Banjo-Wielding NYHC Crew Show Me the Body's Biting New Song "Camp Orchestra"

Freak-punk firebrands offer first taste of second album 'Dog Whistle'

NYC's Show Me the Body are one of the most exciting young bands around, known for their spasmodic live performances, banjo-assisted take on hardcore punk, and efforts in building a community called Corpus of like-minded, collaborative artists. Today, the band has announced the next stage in its movement: SMTB's forthcoming album Dog Whistle, which follows up 2016's Body War and is due March 29th via Loma Vista Recordings. (You can pre-order it here.) They've also offered up the first taste of the record in the form of lead single "Camp Orchestra" and its striking music video. The song's title references the Jewish orchestra groups that were formed in concentration camps during World War II, and the video was inspired by the rooms filled with discarded shoes at Auschwitz.

Even so, the group insists that Dog Whistle is not a political statement. "In the midst of losing friends we strive to created a stronger community, dedicated to fight, survive and thrive in their memory and spirit," the band members say of the album. "A lot of people have said to us this is a perfect time to make a punk record. We are disgusted by this prompt. This album and our music does not belong to a political party. No authority, political movement, or side may claim the function of our music in this society. This album is personal. It is about and for the disenfranchised youth of this city, of this country, and of this earth. It is for our community and anyone who may find shelter within it."

Show Me the Body will support Dog Whistle with an extensive 30-date North American headlining tour starting on April 9th and concluding on May 16th. Ahead of that trek, the band is set to perform at Red Bull Music Presents: Illegal Civilization in L.A. on February 16th, and at Brooklyn Bazaar in NYC on February 22nd.
