Fresh off unleashing Gold & Grey's lead single "Borderlines" and revealing the album's stunning cover painting, Baroness have returned with another instantly unforgettable track from their upcoming fifth studio full-length, the infectious, dynamic "Seasons." Like "Borderlines," the new song sees the Savannah quartet edging into fresh territories while still maintaining the sludgy grooves and progressive structures that define their signature sound. Amid the soaring riffs and singer John Baizley's gruff vocals, "Seasons" moves into passages full of shoegazing lightness, before the band hammers down with the introduction of some serious blast beats.
A video accompanying the new song shows Baroness in their element: plugging away in the studio, perfecting every last note behind the scenes. A split-screen vantage point highlights the intensity with which each player attacks the composition, and a few cut-in scenes showing the band members hanging out and just being themselves convey the real bond between the musicians already apparent in the tight, sinuous track.
Gold & Grey is due June 14th, with pre-orders available now. Baroness are currently on tour with Deafheaven and Zeal & Ardor, and have just announced a follow-up run, set to kick off in July — see the itinerary below. Tickets for that trek will go on-sale Friday April 12th, at 10 a.m. local time. Find a full list of dates on the band's official site.
